2020 DESIGN TRENDS – A PREDICTION LIST
A new year is dawning which means new trends are coming. It’s time to usher in a new decade of design and we are looking into our crystal ball to see what will be big in the coming year.
Whether you’re a trendsetter or follower, you can’t deny the impact trends have on our decorating decisions at home. Some trends will speak to your personal style and work in your home, and others won’t. Try to look at trends as a great source of inspiration, but you don’t have to use them all. A few little tweaks might just satisfy your urge for a refreshed space in the new year.
Here’s our take on what we think the next year will look like for your home.
Classic Blue
Pantone is widely regarded as the authority of color trend predictions, and for 2020 they’ve chosen Classic Blue. It’s clean and elegant and the kind of color that sets a relaxing tone. But, it’s also really uplifting and an easy color to incorporate into your home. Blue can influence everything – from fabric, upholstery, and furniture to kitchen cabinets.

Rattan and Cane
Rattan furniture is one of the biggest trends to hit home decor in recent years and we predict it will be even bigger in 2020. Its classic, and incredibly versatile because it can read traditional, coastal, bohemian, and modern all at once. Since it’s a natural material, rattan furniture brings an element of warmth without the heaviness of wood. Better yet, the trend is easily adapted for all rooms and budgets, from small accents like trays and baskets, to large statement-making furniture.

Geometric Design
There’s a major love affair happening with geometric designs and you are bound to notice an uptick in geometric wallpaper, lighting, furnishings, and accents in home decor. Expect to see plenty of circles, triangles and hexagons galore! Bold geometrics is all about expressing personality in our own homes and we love the statement it makes.
Perhaps one of the most common ways to include the geometric look in your home is in your tile choices.

Warm Neutrals
Has gray had its day? In 2020 we see warm neutrals such as bone, champagne, and taupe making their way in, while cool neutrals fade into the background. The soft and subtle tones can brighten up any space, keeping it classic and elegant. Don’t underestimate the power of neutral decor. It’ll make an excellent choice for your walls, but they’re also great options for furniture including sofas and bedding. Neutrals come in pretty classic and serene shades, and most importantly, they’re not super busy.

Textured Wall Decor
Who says baskets have to be used for storage? Woven wall baskets are a fun alternative to traditional gallery walls! These woven arrangements are perfect for over a bed, sofa, or even an entryway. Not to mention, they bring a rich earthy texture and boho touch. They’re the perfect way to add a little texture and dimension to a space and they’re usually pretty affordable too.
