Oh Baby, Baby: Gender Reveal.
More like: oh boy, oh boy!
No fancy balloons or blue confetti poppers, but we’re still over the moon about today’s gender reveal. That’s right! We’re having a BOY! Ah. That feels weird to write. God bless my husband – he couldn’t love our girls more, but his smile in the doctor’s office said it ALL.
I’ll have him approve this so I don’t twist his words, but he says what he’s most excited about is being able to experience the father/son dynamic alongside the father/daughter dynamic he has with our girls. The girls adore him. And he’ll be the first to admit that he was pulling for Kingsley to be a girl so we could have sisters close in age. But this former All-American athlete needs a man-child.
Since we shared our baby news several weeks ago the votes have trickled in on gender….and if I had a dollar for every message I received that said:
“Your girls are precious, but I want to see you design a boy nursery.”
…I’d have enough dollars to furnish that room for free!
But seriously…hope y’all weren’t just rooting to watch me fumble through raising a boy after 4 years of pink and princesses!
I’m so excited. But candidly, I’m slightly terrified as well. I feel like a first-time mom all over again. I called my mom as soon as we left the appointment and I know she sensed my nerves…and then she did that mom thing where she says just the right thing and transformed my nerves to pure JOY.
“How special! Bauer will always be your first. Kingsley will always be your baby girl. AND you get a BOY!”
Also, this means I get to:
1. Design a new nursery for a sweet baby boy. AND 2. I’ve now justified a total playroom revamp so it’s more gender-neutral.
And yes…we know his name.
