Toddler Girl Room Reveal
This room had me stumped. It’s been somewhat of a pain point for me since we moved into our home over a year ago. Why? Because it’s massive. And not just massive, but oddly shaped with inconvenient window and door placement. So, we broke some “design rules” and created a toddler room that Bauer loves. And, one she’ll share with little Kingsley when she outgrows the nursery.
Our girls are spoiled. Ain’t no doubt about it. I’ve known from the get-go that I want these two girls to share a room and so I built the space around twin Jenny Lind beds (BONUS: you can purchase a bed rail for those early years in the big kid bed). In earlier variations of this room, I had these beds further apart – separated by the closet door that’s smack in the middle of the room. But something just wasn’t sitting right with me and so I rearranged the space to allow the beds to sit closer together, with three Serena + Lily stools as nightstands.
Shortly after I decided on the beds, I fell in love with this horse and bunny artwork from Minted. Just because we’re moving on from the nursery, doesn’t mean we’ve got full-blown teenagers on our hands. These framed baby animals are the perfect addition to keep this toddler room playful and sweet.
I wrapped half the room in a modern floral wallpaper from Caitlin Wilson. At this point, pink was overpowering the room and so I brought in different shades of purple with the bedding and rug.
I was inspired by the chandelier to swap the knobs on the dresser for gold ones and top the look off with a gold round mirror.
With the beds on the far side of the room, the other half was screaming for attention. I remembered this Sugarboo + Co. bench I had admired months earlier, without a clear place to put it in our home. A big selling point on the bench: the size and the addition of another color into a world of pink and purple.
I love our girls’ names even more than I love oversized wall decor, and so I had these wood canvases made from House of Belonging. With a few decorative pillows and shelf styling – this room became perfection.
Because I wouldn’t be true to my neurotic-mom-self without mentioning it, we did a few quick + easy things when transitioning Bauer from her crib to big girl bed:
Chose a bed with a rail option
Swapped her door knob, giving us the ability to lock her in (for her own safety!)
Fastened the dresser to the wall
Made a hard rule that all toys get put away in her closet before bed (and added a child-proof cover to the door knob). The only items B has access to at night are books and stuffed animals
