One Room Challenge – Week 1
Yah! I’m so excited. It’s the official kick-off of this fall’s One Room Challenge! If you aren’t familiar, the One Room Challenge invites designers and influencers to tackle one room in six weeks. I’ve enjoyed following many of my favorite bloggers transform a space in years past, but this year I’m joining in the fun. I figure I do this all the time for clients, so why not get my husband involved and beautify a room in our home?
So want to know which room is getting all our lovin’? Drumroll pahlease….OUR DOWNSTAIRS GUEST SUITE.
Guest Room
Disappointed? Hoping for a disheveled room of boxes and 1970s wallpaper? I get it. This room is fine. But I’m not OK with “fine.” This room is off our main entryway and it’s the land of misfit toys. Everything you see is a hand-me-down from homes-past. It works, but it’s not inspiring. And as a result, I usually keep the door shut.
BUT. What if it could have a life of it’s own? An extension of the personality we’ve created throughout our halls and bedrooms? Sign. Me. Up. And sign my husband up, too – because we have some painting to do.
The Design Board
Above is my inspiration board. I’m a big believer in having a plan, but willing to be a little flexible on the execution. I have some of my favorite brands lined up to partner…a gorgeous headboard from Soft Surroundings (see our favorite chairs) and the coziest bedding from Boll & Branch (that’s right, our guests are getting spoiled with the same sheets we have in our master) and no room is complete without a trip to Pottery Barn at Avalon.
I’ll be sharing all the details and promise to Instagram story when my husband tackles our moody accent wall. I might need y’alls help on final color selection.
Check back every week to follow our progress. And don’t forget to head over to the One Room Challenge to see the gorgeous spaces being transformed near and far.
