One Room Challenge – Week 3
It’s week three of the One Room Challenge and I’m super pumped about our progress. Every decision has been made, every order has been placed and some of the actual execution has been well, executed! As a reminder, here’s where we started. A pretty room. But what I would call, “vanilla.” And I’m more of a java chip girl.
See…pretty, right? And a total bore.
So first up, accent wall! I knew I wanted something dark and moody. I’d wrapped enough walls with paper, so this time we looked to paint. These are the colors we considered:
As a designer, I should stress the importance of getting samples, testing the various colors on your wall and checking-in on them in different light throughout the day. But, here’s the thing – life has been hectic and I just didn’t have time for that. We swung by Sherwin-Williams after church last Sunday with both girls in tow. While they destroyed the store in record time we made a knee-jerk decision and I LOVE IT. Go with your gut, y’all. I could have over-analyzed these colors all day and a majority of them would have turned out beautifully.
Kelly tackled the job that same afternoon. And if you’ve ever done a home-improvement project with young children nearby you know it was a real treat. Thankfully, we all made it out alive and Bauer only full on stepped in the paint can once (can’t make this stuff up).
I wish I had more photos of the actual painting process – but to protect his jeans, Kelly stripped down to his panties and I’m trying to keep this area of the web a safe place.
A few other items that we have for the room that I am SO super excited about:
Our friends at Boll + Branch agreed to outfit our guests in the same comfort we enjoy in our master bedroom. We’re going with an all-white look with a subtle touch of gray.
Earlier this year I fell in love with the curated selection of furniture Soft Surroundings offers. We have two of their chairs in our piano room and I had been eyeing this delicate headboard for the last few months. It was delivered last week and y’all, IT’S BEYOND DREAMY.
Denice Metal Scroll Bed from Soft Surroundings
The last piece I’m revealing today is from Arhaus. With the all-white bed and bedding, I wanted to add something with a little grit. I searched far and wide and obsessed over it for weeks! At the end of the day, it was Arhaus for the win all the way. The Portier Chest was the answer and I can’t wait for this bad boy to be delivered.
Here’s a tiny look at the room today. We went with Sherwin Williams Granite Peak and the way the headboard pops off it makes my heart beat out of my chest.
Check back every Thursday to follow our progress. Next week I’ll share the little decor details that will take this room to the next level. And don’t forget to head over to the One Room Challenge to see the gorgeous spaces being transformed near and far.
